Is The Housing Market Going To Regress Like It Did In The Mid 2000's?

Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey (U.S. weekly averages as of 06/10/2021)


  • "30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 2.96 percent with an average 0.7 point for the week ending June 10, 2021, down from last week when it averaged 2.99 percent. A year ago at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 3.21 percent."  Freddie Mac's PMMS 6-10-21

Significant Increase In Nationwide Residential Permits Issued

National Association of Home Builders:
  • "Over the four months of 2021, the total number of single-family permits issued year-to-date (YTD) nationwide reached 384,196. On a year-over-year (YoY) basis, this is a 35.6% increase over the April 2020 level of 283,344."
  • "Between April 2020 YTD and April 2021 YTD, all 50 states and the District of Columbia saw growth in single-family permits issued."
  • "The District of Columbia recorded the highest growth rate during this time at 332.1% from 28 to 121."
